I am Réka Csabai, the artist behind RECA Ceramic.
I create hand-sculpted ceramic animals, inspired by the quiet, familiar moments in which animals are simply themselves – resting, watching, stretching or completely letting go.
I am less interested in perfect poses than in character. A certain look, the position of a paw, the way a body relaxes or curls up – these small gestures are often what make an animal instantly recognisable.
My sculptures are shaped entirely by hand, allowing traces of the making process to remain visible. I work with natural, earthy tones and matte, textured surfaces that become part of the character of each piece.
For me, each sculpture is a portrait of a moment.
